Dicing/ Dicing Clans. A major breakthrough, Or a ticking time bomb? - ReturnFate - 2011-05-30

Yesterday I stumbled across a post on a forum that showed the pros and cons of a dicing clan. So I decided to investigate a bit more, knowing the detective I am I uncovered a very controversial way to make money in RuneScape.

Dicing is a gamble basically. There are several ways to win money by dicing, but overall it has an average of around 52% chance of winning money. The game is simple, you take a dice bag, find a host in a legit clan and give this person the money you wish to bet. The host then advertises for that amount of money and finds a second player that wishes to bet. When this has been done both of the gamblers roll their dice, and which comes out the highest wins the pot -10% (Hosters' fee).
If a player should be robbed of their money and can provide video evidence, the clan removes the host from their rank in the clan and gives back all money to the gamblers.

It's a simple system, but the big question here is, will dicing become a trend and eventually become more recognizable, such as staking. Or is a just a time bomb, waiting to explode and destroy the "dicing" system all together.

Would you participate in dicing if you had the money to get into a legit dicing clan? Or would you simply just go on with a more reliable way to make your money?

Discuss.

I really dislike the 'games' that are new in the game with free trade. I see it all as a scam and I report every damn soul I see, I don't care if they are legit. I think Jagex should get a real opinion about it and either make ways to make it scam-free or say no-no against dicing, doubling money, flower games and all that crap.

When I actually make money I actually do dice, although I don't host so there's no need in me paying to make money because I make money regaurdless. Grin

I'll say it once and I'll say it again. The quality of gameplay within runescape is SEVERELY degrading day by day ever since free trade. This is another addition to the list of psycho money making methods that are being released, IMO this is pure gambling. Take it or leave it, you're likely to lose out in the end.

Hope it dies personally.

I never heard of it till today. It is a gamble, just like going into a casino IRL and putting down money on Roulette table. You have a 50/50% chance of winning/losing. I can't say I like it nor hate this way of making money. Jagex did place this into the game so it's not against the rules. But I can see where it's becoming a problem since there are clans out there that are abusing this way of making money, some possibly scamming people out of their money.

I personally find dicig positive rather than negative.

Gambling has always been in the game in the form of staking. Staking of course has its share of scammers and cheaters but it can essentially be seen as a 50/50 bet in most cases. I don't see why dicing is frowned upon so much when it essentially offers the same odds but instead of trusting Jagex you trust another player. But even in staking you have to in some way put your trust in another player to not use a glitch and what not.

I think if people want to do it, thats fine. They are taking the gamble and trust risk, it does not affect how I play or make money.

Gambling always has and always will be in the game but it does not affect those who do not gamble. Why hate people for playing the game in there own way?

This sort of thing (dicing/flower game/etc) gets a bad name for "scamming," it really is a clever bit of emergent gameplay. Lots of people like gambling, the chance to win big and all that, and before these games there wasn't much of an outlet for that besides the duel arena, and not everyone was a good staker. In my opinion, all dicing really did was fill a gap in the game that people wanted filled, so I see real negatives to it.

That said, I'd never participate in any of these games, one because many of them aren't legit, which gives them a bad name, and two, because they're gambling, which is much too much of a risk to me.

Find a trusted host. If gambling is your thing, why not?
