New Website!!!

We're currently phasing in a brand new homepage for Surreal. I hope you all like it! We've got some great changes in there and even more awesome ones coming through in the next few days and weeks.

I promise this is just the start of things to come!

What's new?

All new SWC Tracker design, including a proper archives page which is much more functional
A simple, effective, new design to all pages
More focus on content
Social integration (is back?)
Fluid JavaScript usage across website
Responsive, meaning, the site is compatible with phones, tablets and desktops, and will resize itself based on the size of the browser and change functionality as required!

More to come...

This isn't all we've got. There's so much more we're going to give you guys in the near future, so sit tight and you'll see this website really come to life.

Signature Size Reminder

Forum signatures are a great way to express yourself - please do not misuse them. All of our rules still apply in signatures and they should be appropriately sized. Signatures are not built to be your own personal block of text and images!

Signatures may be no larger than 250 pixels (250px) in height. This is to ensure that users of all connections and screen sizes get the best experience possible on our forums and that content remains the most important part of our forum. Width is not an issue, just keep the height to an absolute minimum!

Two New Staff :-)

Keepin' this one short and sweet. As you know, we were in the process of promoting new staff members to Surreal. There may be more promotions in the future, but we're starting off with two for now So, with out further adieu... Congratulations to @Angus@ and @Killians Red@ on becoming the first yellow-ranked staff members in a long while!

Looking forward to working with you. Both have been great supporters of Surreal and I've got every bit of faith in them. Angus and Salv, you rock!

The End of Surreal (I kid, I kid!)

Yes, folks. It's the end of Surreal ... as you know it. Had ya there for a second, didn't I?

As you all are aware, we've gone through some tough times so far this year. It's not been easy on us. I've been collecting feedback this week and I've gathered a pretty rough idea of what parts of the clan need the most attention at the moment. Most of what has been said in the feedback forms has been pretty much what I felt. If you haven't yet left your feedback about the clan, we'd love to hear from you. I'd just like to let you guys know the agenda for the next month or so, what we've got planned, and how we're going to respond to this feedback.

We're promoting a number of people to Staff ranks
Events will begin at new times, we will experiment around with different timezones as well as mix it up for all of you
SWC activity points will now be given based on actual participation XP, rather than your placing (we'll have more on that in a Democracy vote!)
Recruitment efforts will be boosted
Staff activity is going to see a large increase. The goal is to always have somebody watching the forums and clan chat at all times of the day!
With the increase in staff, rules will be revised, and more accessible
PYP will begin!
We'll get "PR People". Shout out to whoever said that
I'll be creating a brand new website for the clan, which will be integrated with the forums

Basically, I'd love for you to keep the feedback coming. If you feel there's something you've missed, fill out the form again. Don't forget to mention that you are re-filling though!

I couldn't be more confident that the current team we have, and the changes coming up will drastically improve the clan. This isn't a quick 2 month effort and a disappearance. I'm here to support Surreal for as long as you want me to. As will our lovely staff team. If you ever need anything. Do not be scared to contact us, we're here for a reason!

I'll stay in touch, and you'll hear from me very soon! I mean... very. Lets get this clan back on track!!!

Welcome to the new Surreal. We've really thought out our new theme thoroughly this time, and I think the colours and overall layout work in harmony with our clan's overall environment.

Citadel, guys, Citadel!

We just entered dilapidation for the first time I can remember. Guys, come on. How hard is it to jump into the citadel and do some work for an hour then go out again? You really wanna lose Tier 6, what we worked so hard to achieve?

Please guys, we need your help each week. Make some effort to go to the citadel and contribute. It's the least we ask of you!

This coming weekend, the homepage (along with our tracker) will be down for about 12 hours while we make some core upgrades here and there (in other words, I need to break a few things for a few hours) This will probably be the first of a few of these, so just bare that in mind please. We're not dead, just working! The forums will still be accessible <3

Attention Provisional Members!

We know that there has been a little bit of a lack of events in January, we're changing this in February. However, if you'd still like to stick with us, we'll give you a chance to be automatically placed into the Clan Member rank, regardless of whether or not you've completed your trial in the required time.

I acknowledge that the events have not been steady and we'll do everything possible this coming month to fix it up, we have big plans!

So yeah, if you are a trial member, and you have an active trial. You can make your full member application right now, regardless of how many events you've attended!

Would you like to be an Avatar Warden?

Want to be an Avatar Warden? .... Then we need you!

We're currently looking to have more Avatar Wardens so that our Avatar is out more often and everyone can benefit from its 3% bonus or 6% bonus (any bonus is better than nothing right?!).
We are hoping that with opening this rank up it will ease the burden on those that already have the rank that don't wish to always have it out and limit any animosity that may arise by others wanting the avatar out.

There are a few rules with being given the Avatar Warden rank though:

Avatar Rules

This rank is only being given to Surreal Members and Senior Members.
The Avatar(s) must ONLY be summoned in our Homeworld of 46 or at the clan citadel
People that are bank skilling should be given priority to summon over those that are in a harder to get to areas.
If no Avatar is out and no one is bank skilling then you're welcome to have the avatar out for the 3% homeworld bonus but it must be dismissed if someone is online and bank skilling.
If you have the Avatar summoned you must be in Clan Chat to let others know where you are with the Avatar so they are able to find you and the Avatar.
Always remember to dismiss the Avatar before you log out of game or enter the lobby.
This rank does not give anyone superiority over others.

If you are willing to get the avatar out whilst you are skilling for everyone to enjoy the bonus then post below and let us know!

Please keep in mind...
Any abuse of the rules and we will remove ranks, this is for us a trial atm to see how opening up this rank for everyone that is happy to help out with the Avatar works.

How to summon the Avatar:

Teleport to the Town Square where the Avatars are found in their habitat
Interact with Avatar and select "Summon this Avatar."
Select the first skills option "A 3% boost for clan mates on the same world as the avatar, and 6% boost to those in range of the avatar"

The HUB 2.0!
Hey there everybody! It's been a while since I last kept you posted on what's going on with Surreal, but we've been working flat out on some really cool stuff coming up for the end of the year that will begin 2013 with a bang!

One of the coolest improvements to Surreal has come to us today, the new and improved HUB! Without any further adieu, here it is, along with some of its features.

Redesigned from the ground up
The HUB is not merely a collection of links distributed to everybody on a static page, no no. Now it is much more than that! The HUB is personalised for you! We've put together a web application that can intelligently provide you with the information you need and want, and much more reliably than before.

Bars show you how you're doing with activity, and the HUB will tell you what week we're on without a staff member needing to update it all the time.

Live SWC Leaderboard
With the completion of our first round of SWC 2013, and thanks to the help of @Wader@, we've been able to get a dynamic leaderboard going! This means there is no longer a need for us to use pesky and clunky Google docs spreadsheets, and they can be updated with ease!

Tweets & Attendance Records
It is now so much easier to check the most important attendance records of all - your own! The HUB will know exactly who you are just by being logged in to our forum, so it's easy to check your activity in a simple click Also, catch up with @ClanSurreal on twitter by seeing our latest updates at all times in the HUB. This will prove to be very nifty in the future!

SWC & PYP
The HUB now recognises what PYP team you are in! It will display contextual information to you, rather than the same general output for everybody. Manual updating is no longer required by staff, as this system is entirely automated - meaning it will provide you with notices and links in an intelligent way, by detecting them!

Remember...
This is just the tip of the iceberg. We have so much more planned, and so many more ideas to make a reality here at Surreal. I can't express how excited I am to work with the wonderful staff team we have and truly take this clan to a whole new level in the next few months.

There is plenty more to check out with the HUB, so feel free to explore, and let us know in the Feedback forum if you've found a bug or have any suggestions for improvement. We will be looking at adding more features to the HUB, this was just a matter of getting the foundations in so we can keep on building!

Guests & Friends: Want to help Surreal?

We're currently going for Tier 6 Citadel, and even though we're doing fine with resources, we could sure do with some help getting visits to our citadel. If you're not in our clan chat, or even if you are, we need as many visits to the Citadel per week for the next few months as we can get; so let us know how you can help!

We're basically looking for:

Accounts of any level with P2P, that are available to visit the citadel on a weekly basis
If any members have a secondary account that is also P2P, we are happy to add you to the clan chat, too!
We're only looking for about 5-10 accounts to help, so let us know!
If you would like to cap, that's fine, too! But all we would like is visits
You do not need to meet our requirements to help out with visitor count, however we do require that you do follow our clan rules in the clan chat!

For helping us out, you'll get access to the clan chat with the equivalent of provisional rank. You also get a 3-6% XP boost on World 46 when our avatar is being used. Simply send a reply to this thread and we'll invite your account to the clan chat.

3 New Staffers!

As you all know, we've been interested in recruiting a few new yellow names into our staff team; and we've been thinking for a while about who would be a good fit for the job, and judging by the quality of all the applications we received, it was definitely a very difficult decision. If we could, we'd make all of you staff - but for now, there are 3 new members of staff that you guys need to know about!

You may have noticed it already, but @Dick@, @Heather@ and @Portus@ have been promoted to Staff! All three of these new staff members have proven that they can contribute to the clan massively, give quality ideas and move us into the future

It's a true pleasure to have you guys (and gal) on board, and we're definitely looking forward to working with you on some very fun projects in the near future. Did anyone say new years revolution?

Anywho, congratulations to you three, I know you'll do a wonderful job. Can't wait to work with you!
