Bring back the old wilderness!

I voted for it.

As much as I'll hate having to run from pkers while doing clue scrolls and what not in the wilderness, it adds more challenge then running away from revs, you don't seem them as often. I'm not so much looking forward to the free trade though, it'll have it's perks yeah but I'm going to guess exchanging rs money for real life money will increase.

I was just thinking that if free trade comes back then there will be so many scams. Not to mention more bots and RWT. Unless they have some method of stopping these while still allowing players to trade freely.

I am assuming they will keep the double accept, and possibly the GE Price on to limit scaming, but yes it will still probably happen more often.

I love the old Runescape. It's definitely a yes vote from me.

I can see why people don't like this because it's more change. And a weird change at that. Trying to go back in time? It's a little strange if you think about it. However, free trade? It's the right thing to do.

Even though I don't PK (I used to some times back in the day, but now I wouldn't even think about PKing) if the old wild was back, I'd go back every now and then. And you know what? It's not fair for the people who actually do PK, which is a major population of RuneScape.

Free trade to me is big, and probably the main reason why I voted. I'm glad Jagex finally realised you will not rid the world of RWT. Jagex has methods on tracking it, so they still will catch people. But I enjoy free trade. WE THE PLAYERS get to control the prices of an item, not Jagex. If you want to GIFT YOUR FRIEND a whip, you should be able to.

The way I see it, Jagex have made up their minds, and have made it up a while back. But for a publicity stunt (or maybe revenue? Theres an advert on that page) they've decided to ask to see how we feel about it.

I think if they implement the free trade + Grand exchange in a certain way it would work.
For example, You can trade another player an item and tell them to pay however much you want, but if you want convenience, the grand exchange will stay how it is, you can only use the ge price (which still fluctuates around the supply/demand law).

I'm all for both, I miss the old laws of the wilderness from <06, and will be the happiest little scaper alive if it returns to its former glory

I don't want to think of the day where I walk 5 spaces into the wilderness and get absolutely destroyed by barragers and pures. I am not one for combat, but why complain about the wilderness? It's still there, it's everywhere in PVP worlds, letting the possibilities of Pking virtually being limitless. What is the point of the Abyss if you can't get there? To bring back the wilderness would be a victory for all Pkers and a loss for all skillers. Not everyone likes to PK, so please leave it to the PVP worlds for that kind of thing.

Well, well. This update is rather puzzling for me. It seems rather unusual to me that Jagex would open such an unsecure and flawed voting system for something that's clearly wanted by a large majority of players.

Let's take a look at this.. Since the release of the Quick Polls option on the Front Page (which asks for no account details), Jagex have never released a poll which does not require a player to login in order to vote. The fact that there's little to no security as to which accounts vote makes this whole process seem very unusual, e.g. I can easily place a vote for virtually any RuneScape account in existence even if the original owner doesn't want the update to go ahead.. Puzzling, no?

Secondly, there's only one voting option? I would have thought that if Jagex were to do a 'poll' they'd effectively have more than 1 option available to players? What about those Players who may oppose this update? There's nowhere for them to voice their opinion. Once again, another very non-Jagex-like thing to do.

Finally, why hold a poll? It's clear that the majority of players would want this to return. Vote or no vote, I thought this would have been pretty clear to Jagex.

All in all this whole 'voting' system seems a little bizarre to me. There's obviously been the rumours that it's all for a World Record, etc, but there's really no proof of that. The way I see it, Jagex have already made up there mind that the Wilderness and Free Trade will be returning, but simply want to earn brownie points with Players. Silly, silly.

There won't be a thousand pkers in every world, far from it. If you're rcing, take a teletab, same with anything else, the wildernerss is meant to be a dangerous place, not a safe one.
It's not a loss for skillers either, far far far from it. With the wilderness returning to its former glory, alot of players that quit will be returning. Those pkers need bows to alch, runes to do the alching, potions, armour, fish. Their will be a big demand for all items like that, more of a demand then there is now, so we'll make much more money. Back in the day, you could sell a super attack + strength for 10k in world 18 (was the unofficial pking world), it's not a loss for skillers, it's quite a big gain.

I just don't understand how the GE will run. jagex said there wouldn't be price limits, but this way selling an item could be quite a pain :S

Just think of World44, the official world for Nature RuneCrafting. I craft Nats with the graahk but who crafts with the abyss method can get rushed by the Zamorak wizard. Clans can easily camp there and kill everyone who tries to enter the abyss.
